Conditions: Reasons to visit a Chiropractor

What is health? The World Health Organisation defines health as

“Optimal physical, mental and social well-being,
not merely the absence of illness and disease”

Migraines

Are Migraines normal?

A Migraine is a result of inflammation, compression, stretching, irritated or infection to the cranial nerves, dura and arteries of the brain. Chiropractic is not a Migraine therapy however results show that Chiropractic spinal care benefits anyone who suffers from Migraines [1]

Lower back ache / pain

Chiropractic care helps millions of people with low back problems, providing a drug free and natural method of relief from pain and discomfort. A medical research Council clinical trial, reported in the British Medical Journal in 1990 & 1995, found that Chiropractic treatment of back pain was more effective than hospital outpatient treatment.

Back pain is the leading cause of absenteeism in the workplace costing industry £5 billion in the UK alone. Studies in the USA and Canada support the findings in the UK, “the higher satisfaction levels expressed by patients of Chiropractors…offer an overwhelming case in favour of much greater use of Chiropractic services in the management of low back pain…a very good case can be made for making Chiropractors the gatekeepers for management of low-back pain in the workers’ compensation system.” [3]

Sufferers of chronic and severe pain, both immediate and long term can gain relief through Chiropractic. Scientific studies clearly demonstrate that spinal manipulation is the most effective and cost-effective form of treatment for dysfunctional problems in the upper, mid and low-back. [4]

The overwhelming case for Chiropractic as the most effective treatment option for low-back pain lies in the simplicity that Chiropractic care seeks to correct vertebral Misalignments, physical therapy, drugs, bed rest, traction, braces and surgery do not!

Accidents & Trauma

‘I haven’t felt right since the accident’

- an all too common phrase from people who have been in an accident or suffered a trauma.

Misalignments that are created in the spine following an accident remain in the body and prevent you from healing thoroughly. That may be the reason why over half of accident victims never completely recover from injuries sustained following an accident. All too often people live on painkillers, physical therapy and sometimes repeated surgery. We here all too often, ‘I’ve been told that I have to live with the pain’!

Chiropractic care can be the difference in making a full recovery, giving your body the best chance to completely heal. Anyone who has been in an accident should seek a Chiropractic consultation. The health of your nervous system is critical for the relief of symptoms and for healing. The damage from a spinal Misalignment may take months or even years to surface and a simple visit to the Chiropractor could help bring back the quality of life prior to the accident. Please note that Chiropractic should be used in conjunction with emergency medical care not in the place of.

Shoulders, Arms & Hands

The brachial plexus is made up from nerves which come out of the middle and lower neck and upper back. After they interconnect to form the Brachial plexus they branch off to supply the shoulders, arms, wrists, hands and fingers. These vital nerves carry information from the brain to the body. Many problems with these areas of the body can be related to damage to the brachial plexus. The nerves that make up the brachial plexus can become compressed or impinged, caused by a variety of reasons, such as, sporting injury (particularly from racket sports), long-term spinal stress, childhood injury, car accidents and traumas, even sleeping in awkward positions. Depending on which nerves or involved there can be a variety of problems that result. The common problems experienced range from headaches and neck stiffness to numbness in the fingers and muscle weaknesses or spasm [18]

Chiropractic care is essential to relive stress on the nerves of the brachial plexus, as well as the entire spine, to provide long term relief from pain and symptoms in the shoulders, arms and hands.

Logan Basic technique is a very predictable structural technique that works by gentle pressure on the hip and buttock area. When the base of the spine is misaligned, this causes compensation further up, which results in the distortion of the entire body
